    • Sounds like a lot of noise without much substance . . .

      • Even if the coach was shopping himself and Thiam, there is no evidence any teams made an inquiry or offer. The kid entered the portal April 15th and it took a while to sign with us. I hope we got involved, i.e. offered on or after April 15th.

Agreed. Sounds like this UCF writer is just trying to make some noise because he's upset.

It's happening all over, pal. Get over it.

          • Oh so now there's should be rules. Now the transfer portal is the a problem. Funny how that works.

It’s easy enough to find out. UC is a state university, just do a public records request to see how much Mamadou N’Diaye is being paid. I’m sure somebody is probably doing that already.

You don't need to to. Corporateballa already posted the numbers in the thread. Those numbers are accurate. Scroll up a couple pages or so.

As far as players shopping goes, Yep. That's not on UC but everyone knew where he was going. I honestly am not sure how I feel about all that stuff given the NIL era but it's definitely not tampering on our part.

                • Apparently the state of the NCAA today adheres to the mantra "all is fair in love and war". Everything and anything goes, deuces are wild and there are no boundaries. They have created this monster and now they're crying foul?

Th NCAA didn't create this monster. They just kept it from the light of day for selfish monetary reasons. The courts handed them their *** when someone finally challenged it.

That said, the pendulum has swung to far in the other direction. We need some rules back and I'm hoping the House case gets settled fairly.

                    • I might be more interested in how good of a coach is Mamadou N’Diaye. Did we offer him a significantly over market salary? Our low post coaching hasn’t been all that great, if he’s more a player handler, probably not ideal.

The key element for UC was Thiam. If they had to take N'Diaye to get him, and had the resources, they'd take him. It worked out that they had to replace Drew Adams.

you mean the drew adams, who was going to deliver floyd bidunga after he was hired - these guys all use each other - head coaches, assistants, now, openly, the players - this ain't your father's college sports anymore, and hasn't been for some time

That's not what I was driving at. Adams was still on the staff when Thiam entered the portal. Per Chad Brendel, CWM didn't want Adams to leave. Had he stayed, N'Diyae wouldn't have been coming here (and, likely, Thiam). This is in response to UCF followers' claims that UC tampered with Thiam before he entered the portal. While N'Diyae may have shopped his protege here (as he apparently did all over the place), there was no opening for the coach. UC did not initiate any contact.
