Nick has left the Grizz staff but fortunately for national Twitter, he discovered iced coffee in 2019. If ytou are unaware of this saga, NIck did not know this stuff existed until earlier this year. He is now the foremost ambassador for the drink on the entire internet.
Suggest you search any internet platform for "NIck Van Exel Iced coffee" and have some fun reading up on it.

With his background, including as an NBA assistant, the degree opens a lot of opportunities as a head coach in the college ranks, if he's interested.Originally posted by bearcatbret View PostCongratulations to Nick. He was a great player and became a terrific mentor. I hope that he has some more success in life.

"It means a lot," Van Exel said of his diploma. "I've started and quit and started to quit and finally it was like, you know what? I've got to get it done."
Van Exel was recently coaching with the Atlanta Hawks and found it difficult to fit the work in, but was pushed by his wife and his teammates. Van Exel mentioned Corie Blount, Allen Jackson, Tarrice Gibson, Erik Martin and Terry Nelson, all members of the 1991-92 Final Four team and 1992-93 Elite Eight squad.
"All those guys got it done," Van Exel said. "They just kept like, 'Man, you're the last one! What are you going to do?' They kept pushing me, so thanks to them."
Now 51 years old, Van Exel said he had no direction as a kid. While at UC during his successful run, he was caught up in the glory of back-to-back headline seasons. Then, in the 1993 NBA Draft, the Bulls took Corie Blount in the first round, with Van Exel becoming a now-legendary second-round pick of the Lakers.
"It's never too late to be great!" Van Exel said of his better-late-than-never approach to a cap and gown. "I tell kids all the time, get that degree because you never know when it can come back and bite you if you don't have it."
...
Van Exel's name has been occasionally floated as a college coach candidate, but most schools require the head coach to have a degree. The former left-hander who could light up threes and drive the lane has now cleared that hurdle.
"I have all the boxes checked now," Van Exel said. "If that opportunity happens, I would definitely look at it. It's not something I'm going after right now, but if it happens, who knows?"
...
"I talked to Huggs a couple weeks ago," Van Exel said. "Huggs is chilling right now. I'll give him a call after I get finished with everything, send him some pictures and try to make him cry a little bit."
