We're trying to get out early but the asking price the AAC is trying to get is crazy high.

I've heard Aresco is asking for 37 million, the 10 million exit fee plus a 27 million early exit penalty fee. That makes zero sense to me because the 23/24 Big 12 revenue woud be significantly lower. In another article Aresco stated the penalty fee is higher than when UConn left because UConn didn't affect the AAC tv deal. When UC, UCF, and UH leave, the AAC deal will be significantly lower than the too low point it is now. Sjould we stay until July 2024, the AAC only gets 10 million per school and their tv revenue drops. They cannot expect UC, UCF, and UH to essentially subsidize the AAC tv revenue losses for the next 6-8 years in exchange for leaving one year early. The UConn 7 million penalty (total 17 million witht the non-negotiable 10 Million) has to be the starting point for UC, UCF, and UH because we are giving more notice and they have already selected replacements.Originally posted by Lobot View PostWe're trying to get out early but the asking price the AAC is trying to get is crazy high.

Aresco is getting greedy and desperate.Red and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.

We could start by giving up our share of the NCAA tournament distribution. Not to mention the extra we made for the league by reaching the CFPOriginally posted by Lobot View PostWe're trying to get out early but the asking price the AAC is trying to get is crazy high.

The Big 12 revenue trends to be slow for the next 7 years where currently the Big 12 is third in revenue and at the end of this decade will be 5th. The SEC is projected to double in revenue. Navigate projects SEC and Big Ten per-school payouts will be $40-50 million clear of rest of Power Five by 2026 (msn.com)

This is interesting but it is a pay site. If someone can summarize the rest of it, I would appreciate it. Big 12 fan survey: Coach approval ratings, future realignment hopes and good riddance to Texas and Oklahoma – The Athletic

Max Olson of The Athletic ($) -- When the Big 12 becomes a 14-team league next year, what should the divisions look like? Do they even need divisions? Update on those discussions and the key issues (like where to put OU/Texas): https://theathletic.com/3222097/2022...y-issues-loom/

I read an article a couple of days ago, basically saying that they may not go with divisions but rather have 9 conference games.Originally posted by GoBearcats31 View PostMax Olson of The Athletic ($) -- When the Big 12 becomes a 14-team league next year, what should the divisions look like? Looks like we’re doing all this without Bob Bowlsby. He’s retiring later in the year per The conference
Big 12 Conference Commissioner Bob Bowlsby announced today that he will step away from the Commissioner’s chair later this year after a decade of leading the league and securing its long-term future as one of the five major collegiate athletics conferences. Bowlsby, a steady, influential voice for intercollegiate athletics, will remain Commissioner of the Big 12 until the appointment of a new Commissioner and will then, at the request of the Conference, transition to a new interim role with the Conference, subject to the mutual agreement of Bowlsby and the new Commissioner.Last edited by Lobot; 04-05-2022, 04:19 PM.Brent Wyrick

Wonder if they'll consider Aresco, I would be OK with that.Originally posted by Lobot View PostLooks like we’re doing all this without Bob Bowlsby. He’s retiring later in the year per The conference

That might be exactly why it would be smart for the Big XII board of governors to grab him. He has inside knowledge of what the AAC would be willing to take at minimum for the three teams to jump leagues early. That would do us a financial favor and maybe the Big XII as well depending on if they had plans to pay part of our exit fee.Originally posted by bearcatbret View PostAresco bailing on the American and follow the 3 teams leaving? I am not sure if I would be OK with that. Also, there may be a conflict of interest when dealing with exit fees.
That’s completely unscrupulous but when has that stopped anyone in big business before? I doubt Aresco has a non compete clause.Brent Wyrick

I also just realized that the office move here would be literally across the highway and down two blocks in Irving.Originally posted by Lobot View Post
