The Fighting Butch Jones'es are taking it to BGSU right now in Mobile. And as I type that BGSU scores on a fake punt.

I kind of lost track of Pitt and didn’t realize their season had tanked after getting to 7-0. I do know the QB who started for them against UC did not play the bowl game, at least the second half of the game.Originally posted by Lobot View Post
Lots of Pitt people asking for Narduzzi's head. He started 7-0 and finished 7-6. Sounds a little familiar

I'm watching GT and Vandy and PxP mentions that GT was once in the Metro conference before joining the ACC. Very young Analyst replies : "What is the Metro Conference?" and now I feel old.Brent Wyrick

That was Eli Holstein and he's been hurt for the last month which might explain a few things.Originally posted by London 'Cat View Post

The Metro conference was a really good b-ball conference. I remember telling some guys in my high school (in Michigan) that I was going to UC and they said awesome, going to the Metro Conference. It was fun when FSU hosted the outdoor conference track meet. Deon Sanders would run from the baseball diamond to the track when it was time for him to compete. It just was not sustainable because all of the football programs were independent and the writing was on the wall. The announcer probably does not remember the Great Midwest either (but that kind-of stunk). I was actually a track official during one of the indoor track meets while in the Great Midwest and also for the full conference outdoor meet. Thanks for making me feel old.Originally posted by Lobot View PostI'm watching GT and Vandy and PxP mentions that GT was once in the Metro conference before joining the ACC. It is a lot of fun watching teams that we beat or would have beaten play in bowl games, while we sit home in poor season oblivion. Miami easily beat Colorado State in a rather well attended "Snoop Dog/Arizona Bowl"..... Give CSS one more year, and reconsider going back to the AAC. So the Big 12 gives UC more money? What good is that if you miss out on the fun of a solid winning season. Remember, I was against the move to the Big 12 at the beginning. I am not trying to "troll here"..... just frustrated that 3 years ago we were in the top 4 in the country, and now we are rated 83rd.

No thanks on the carcass known as the American Athletic Conference (or any dying G5 league).Originally posted by Bearcat Chris View PostIt is a lot of fun watching teams that we beat or would have beaten play in bowl games, while we sit home in poor season oblivion. That won't last. They have insufficient available funding (maybe Memphis through FedEx) to compete after the results of the House agreement. Here's an espn.com article from today that lays out what they're up against. It isn't going to get any better.Originally posted by Bearcat Chris View Post

While Boise State made this year's playoff, the challenges the Group of 5 faces are bigger than ever.

In order to get back to the top 25, it'll take money, and the AAC doesn't have it. UC is ahead of Houston and UCF, but still far behind the rest of the the Big 12, which is far behind revenue of SEC/B!G.Originally posted by Bearcat Chris View Post

With this in mind, you can choose to get behind UC staying with the big boys and improving at this level, or not because going back to the smaller pond isn't either an option, nor is it attractive. The big fish in a small pond analogy no longer works with the revenue of the big pond. We simply have to become a big fish in a big pond, then we can win CFP games, not just get a participation trophy.
