The Preseason AP is out. We're not in it and it's almost entirely blue bloods save for Utah and Kansas, Zona and NC State.

With an expanded CFP, it is very telling that there are five SEC teams in the top 12, along with four Big 10 teams compared to one Big 12 team (Utah). I know it will change by year end, and think the Big 12 gets two teams into the CFP, but only after the big two beat each other up. Maybe the Big 12 teams have a great showing in the new Playoff, and we can get more teams in the pre-season top 12 next year. Top ratings int eh preseason don't matter except they do bring in more casual fans/viewers for the next tv deal.Red and Black are more of an Attitude than merely a color combination.

Before joining the Big 12, we would be in those pre-season polls, and we would all be much more excited about our first game. Let's hope the move to the Big 12 was the right thing.

I disagree, at least about the pre-season polls part. UC was 3-9 last season. A team will never be ranked following that type of season. I am excited for the season because there are so many new players on the roster that are unknown quantities. The Big 12 was undoubtedly the right move. In the end, the writers didn’t change their minds much after the season. They kept 19 of the original Top 25, with some slot changes, but not drastically. Their biggest preseason miss was USC.Comment

The preseason edition of the Athletic 134 is out and UC comes in at a glowing 94. ($)
I'm pretty that's where we ended up year last year. We are below everyone else in the BIg XII in this ranking.

I see BC just outside top 25. Excellent article on Bill O'brien
...he's assembled a staff with NFL pedigree. Of course they can't compete NIL wise with OSU and others for 4 and 5 stars in Ohio and from greater Cincinnati high schools but they can pick off good players, especially from Catholic schools. A rise of BC football is not good for UC. Also, I saw how players respond to Freeman at ND - yikes! That scene before they took the field against TAMU would fire anyone up. Let's hope the Cats can get as fired up for Pitt. Go Bearcats!Comment
