NCAA ruling

If I read correctly what they shot down on antitrust was that the NCAA tried to put a hard cap on what athletes could be paid for COA at $5000. I can definitely see where that would violate antitrust since the member institutions are technically businesses and they should get to determine pay rate individually. Also seems like NCAA was essentially colluding on behalf of or with the member institutions to set that figure. I'm not sure which is correct. This affects UC directly because our COA figure was going to be about 6700 (?). So from our vantage point I think this ruling is a win for future UC athletes. We now can and will pay at the top of FBS schools for COA if I'm reading into all this correctly.Brent Wyrick
