Jalen Haynes may be a decent player inside, but he's awful from the arc (6/38 in the past two seasons).Originally posted by Bearcatattack View Post

That's Jalen Haynes, 6'8 C from George Mason. He posted a 2.8 BPM last year as an ultra high usage (31%) scorer and a good rebounder (10% OReb) with solid defense (2.0 DBPM). The main downsides are a high turnover rate at 20% and not much rim protection (3% block rate).Originally posted by Bearcatattack View Post
Haynes shoots a lot, putting up 10 shots from the field and more than 5 free throws in only 25 minutes per game. And he's efficient at 55% effective field goals, with more than half of them unassisted. We were sorely missing someone who could create his own shot inside this year. And I think he could reduce his TO rate if he wasn't trying to force things too much with a lower usage rate. If he did that I can see him being a 4+ BPM player. He did post a 4.0 BPM in 9 top 100 games. I like this guy. He might not be a star in the B12 but I think he could be a good rotation player who can give us some much needed offense in the post.Last edited by sedz; 04-10-2025, 08:47 PM.

38 attempts in 65 games. Not really much to worry about.Originally posted by swilsonsp4 View Post

Haynes put up a 19.4 BPM on 18 points with 7 rebounds at Duke this year. He can play.

Miller should go after this guy. UC may be able to get him without putting forth a lot of funds. UC can use a guy like this.Originally posted by GoBearcats31 View Post6'9 Achor Achor has entered the transfer portal.
He averaged 16.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.8 blocks a year ago at Samford. He played in 7 games this year for Kansas State (7.3 ppg) before leaving the team for personal reasons. Maybe one year left?
Here is what sedz said about him last year:

Yeah. Houston had 2 guys to play in the Mickey Ds All-American game (2025).Originally posted by bearcatbret View PostWith all of the transfer discussion, here is an article about high school recruiting and how the Big 12 has more top-rated recruits than any other conference. While I have a few less years in, I am nearing this same take. It has very little to do with winning & losing (although I have zero faith in either Satterfield or Miller), but more a blinding cash grab without a cap and zero commitment to anything but the dollar. It'll be interesting to follow these athletes and see where they are in 10 years. I don't think a lot of them are moving on to the NBA but will have a not yet developed self cradled by cash during fertile, formative years.....what happens when the cash runs out? It's sort of a sad state of human condition. A lot of development happens between 18-25 yet in the human brain. This money is unstructured for the most part, it's "whatever it takes." Anyways, enough esoteric mumbo jumbo......Originally posted by richard k. View Post
And after just short of 75 years I have lost interest, and have given up my tickets. I don't care whether it's football or basketball - if I'm going to root for/have an interest in, theams playing these sports if they are just another form of professionals, I'll root for the Bengals or the Knicks (I'm originally from NYC so there is the association - still a die hard NY Ranger fan.)

We've contacted Jadrian Tracey, 6'5 senior wing from Oregon. Posted a 4.4 BPM this year as a glue guy. He's an efficient low volume scorer and good defender without any major strengths or weaknesses. Just a solid all around game. Maybe a John Newman type.
