That Eggmen score would fit right in with prior Bearcats wins in the series. Not since 1987 have the Cats beaten XU by fewer than seven points. However, we've lost 13 times in such manner during that time, including four OT affairs. I think Lou Banks is still recovering from the mugging he absorbed in the 1990 OT finish at Cincinnati Gardens.

Let's see how the team looks after its first five games which includes an NCAA tournament team from last season (Morehead State) and a power four / ACC team (Georgia Tech). I would imagine that Georgia Tech wants revenge after the beat-down that Cincinnati gave them at Fifth-Third last year. So, UC will have to bring all its muscle to that game. Also, let's see what the defense looks like this year. That is my main concern. If a team scores 80 points a game but gives up 81 a game, it will not win many. I hope that this team can live up to the TOP 20 RANKING. By the way, what do rankings really mean at the beginning of the season? Nothing. Let's see where UC is ranked at the end of the season.

I'm not going to do a prediction mostly because I just have no idea what our conference record will look like. You can go below .500 in conference play and be ranked and make the tournament in this league. It's wild. I actually think the conference is better than the Old Big East when we were in it.

Agree! From top to bottom this version of the Big 12 is better than the Big East when we were last in it.
