I saw a post from the Field of 68 newsletter showing that Houston is consensus #1 in Kenpom, Torvik, Haslametrics and EvanMiya models. Pretty impressive to do that and lose your best player from last season.Brent Wyrick

Indiana is #39 in KenPom this morning, but look for them to be top 20 in the AP Poll when it comes out.
Obviously less of a distinction between 1 and maybe 4-5, but interesting that Houston would be the metrics darling but humans do not seem to be picking them quite that high.

UC is #20 in the preseason AP poll https://apnews.com/hub/ap-top-25-col...asketball-poll
1. Kansas
4. Houston
5. Iowa State
8. Baylor
10. Arizona
20. Cincinnati
Receiving votes: Xavier (28), Texas Tech (29), Kansas State (31), BYU (35), Arizona State (51) ... Villanova, Dayton nowhere to be found but they were 20 and 27 in KenPom
From UC: "It marks the program's first appearance in a preseason poll since 2017-18, where it was No. 12 and ultimately reached the top-five. UC's last time ranked overall was in the final 2018-19 poll."
Jeff Goodman tweets three teams he is higher on than the poll -- he personally slots UC in at 15Last edited by GoBearcats31; 10-14-2024, 01:33 PM.

Yes, that is indeed an interesting difference. I wonder why? Alas, statistical vs subjective prediction: Which is better? The argument has persisted down through the years.Originally posted by GoBearcats31 View Post

UC is the only team to drop a spot, not losing a game this week....Would like to hear the explanation on this one..

^^ I'm not concerned about 1 spot when we've played nobody. UK jumped because they beat Duke.

KU at 1
ISU at 5
Houston at 7
Baylor at 13
Arizona at 17
UC at 18.
ORV: Tech, Xavier, BYU, UCF, K-State, ASU.
Conference is stacked.
