Speaking of analytics, where is sedz ?
Pursuing other interests in the offseason, haha.

I like to believe I played a part in Torvik's ranking update. A few months back I mentioned that Kansas had too high of a defensive rating after bringing in bad defenders in the portal. Torvik responded that a model using individual BPM is a lot of work, but he made it happen. It helped us out because Aziz and Dillon Mitchell have much better BPM than offensive ratings. Analytics keep getting better and better every year. Evan Miya and Bart Torvik are constantly evolving.

Another big change this year is that the NCAA is going to Wins Above Bubble (WAB) as a selection criteria. Torvik uses WAB to create his bracket, and his model was in the top 7% last year in terms of teams seeded correctly., outperforming all of the prominent bracketologists. Last year we ended the season at -1.4 WAB, meaning we'd have to flip two of our losses to wins to make the cut.

          Fran Fraschilla on X:

@GoBearcatsMBB not only have six of their top eight scorers back, they have six players who averaged 8.8 points or more plus 2 key veterans in career 41% 3-point shooter, C.J. Frederick, and defensive specialist, Aziz Bandaogo. Throw in top 50 freshman. Tyler Betsey, and this should be a big season in Cincinnati

Chad gives a pretty good breakdown of Page (from observations at practice) starting at the 11:00 mark of this video.

This upcoming season will truly be the start of the Miller era. I say that because all of the players associated with the Brannen era will be gone. Lahkin was the last holdover. Based on the weight room group photo, this team most definitely looks the part. However, games are won and lost on the floor. The weight room can help with that process. Let's make NO mistake about it, there is a lot of PRESSURE on Miller to win this upcoming season. Hey, why not? The honeymoon seasons are over with and besides, he TRULY has put together a dynamite roster this upcoming season. There are plenty of ranked players on this team. This team has plenty of national talent. Clearly, recruitment is Miller's overwhelming strength. Now, the BIG question is, can Miller win on a championship level or something close to it? We all are waiting to see the answer to that one.

Leeray - the only problem with thinking that this talent will win is that all the top teams of top talent. So, the question should be: can UC beat the heavily stacked bluebloods?

Hey brother, we are on the SAME page. The two of us are asking the same question. We can take that question even further. Can the team win on the road? Can the team win its conference home games? UC had a problem with its conference home games last year. Nevertheless, on paper, I like this team. I also think that UC SHOULD be able to win some of the nailbiters that it lost last year. Either way, we will see what this team is all about.

This year will tell us a lot. On paper we can compete with anyone. However, I think Miller would do well to ease up on the substitutions just to be subbing. With all the talent that this team has and not very minutes to be had I think on any given night whoever is having a "on " night should be allowed to do his thing.
